Connie- totally sympathize!! I have a 8mo old and he's been all over the place with eating and sleeping since birth. Does all the required naps during the day (4hr total) and yet night time is a toss up and he's getting up earlier instead of later as time goes by...no matter how late I put him to down for the night. I'm now going to take the partial control out of my husbands hands and start my own routine to keep him down for the 10hrs at night. (don't worry, he's not waking up at 5am hungry- he only eats about 2oz at 5am and then naps again) So, this is our new routine as he's never been a big bottle feeder and he's eating tons of solids during the day. Maybe this routine will aid you too:) I'm only doing 4 bottles a day now and 2-3 meals and snacks and water. 6a wake- bottle, 7a breakfast -usually cereal and apple, play, nap by 9a-10,10:30, 11a bottle, play, nap for an 1.5 or 2hr!, 4p bottle & play, 6p dinner and water, play(may nap in this area - but only for 1/2 hour not to hamper night sleep), bath at 7p and then 8pm bottle and to bed. I'm going to sleep in his room (put extra bed) and break the 5a wake up by just change and dummy back in mouth till 6a~ I'm hoping that works!!

I am a mother of three and it is my 7 month old who cries in her sleep! Routine does not help! I've tried every method going, for a period of time each and nothing is working! She naps and feeds the same time every day which with me being so strict on her schedule (because EVERYTHING i've read insists that if they have a routine then they will sleep) it has negatively affected my families life.
im so stressed and over tired. I don't know what else to do.

Those are some great tips for how to put a baby to sleep. Routine is definitely one part of the sleep strategy that should be emphasized. Feeding at the same time, rocking them in a chair, playing the same music, etc, will help them adjust a little more quickly and put them i the mind set to fall asleep!
